Biography

Ir. Dr Ivy Tan Ai Wei received her Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) with First Class Honours from UTM in 2005, and Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from USM in 2008. In 2011, she received Postgraduate Diploma (Teaching & Learning) from UNIMAS. She is a Professional Engineer (PEng) registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered with Engineering Council, UK and a Chartered Member of Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), UK. Currently, Ir. Dr Ivy is a Senior Lecturer at Department of Chemical Engineering & Energy Sustainability, Faculty of Engineering, UNIMAS. She served as Programme Coordinator for Chemical Engineering Programme from 2012-2016. Her research interest is in Adsorption Technology for Environmental & Sustainable Energy Applications, including activated carbon, biochar, microbial fuel cell and phytoremediation. She has involved in 16 research projects since 2010, as well as a research consultation project on phytoremediation and a community project on biochar. In 2018, Ir. Dr Ivy was listed as Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics Web of Science for her multiple highly cited papers ranked in the top 1% by citations in her field under Engineering category. She was a recipient of Malaysia Research Star Award 2019. Her publications have attracted over 5,280 citations globally, with author h-index of 21 and i10-index of 27 (Google Scholar, Aug 2020). She has successfully filed 2 intellectual properties from her research innovation on photocatalytic adsorbent and biochar.
