DEAN'S MESSAGE
Engineers, today, play an increasingly important role in the future of our nation and the world. The Faculty of Engineering UNIMAS is uniquely positioned to provide innovative and systematic engineering education and produce engineers with strong technical and interpersonal skills through the dedication and commitment of its faculty members having expertise in diverse niche areas. Through innovative curricula, teamwork approach, problem-based learning, soft skills program and leadership-building experiences, the Faculty of Engineering imparts to its students vital communication and critical-thinking skills.
Our undergraduate and postgraduate programs are accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). All our programs are continuously enhanced and updated in line with the criteria set by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) of Malaysia. This is done through the inputs and feedbacks from various stakeholders, especially the Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) members and the national and international external examiners of different academic programs. This continuous quality improvement process facilitates the Faculty to strengthen and sustain the quality of its graduates.
The academic staff of the Faculty is also actively engaged in research and development. This is demonstrated by the large number of research publications, research grants and awards won every year. The Faculty’s research findings are shared with other researchers, industries and scientists through our annual flagship engineering conference, EnCon.
In line with the UN’s SDGs initiatives, we promise to prepare our graduates, the future engineers, to support these initiatives to meet the local and global needs of the time. Equipping and guiding our students to lifelong quest for knowledge through continuous learning and instilling in them an innovative and independent attitude is one of the major goals of the Faculty. Through the Student Association of Faculty Engineering (SAFE) and the IEM-SAFE UNIMAS Student Section, many of our students participate in community outreach and exchange programs and avail themselves of a variety of industrial and community experiences.
The Faculty of Engineering Strategic Plan 2021-2025 has been formulated to increase our national and international impact and our contribution to the society. And of course, our utmost pride is our graduates whom will be the champion in their respective disciplines and communities of which they will wholeheartedly support for betterment. Hence, enhancing our future graduates’ talents and skills is our main agenda.
I invite you to become better acquainted with the UNIMAS Faculty of Engineering, where you will discover not only engineering merit but also a campus alive with intellectual, cultural and health activities.
