Biography

Profesor Abdullah is at the Department of Chemical Engineering & Energy Sustainability (ChemES) of the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Malaysia. He received his BSc degree and MSc degree in Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering from UTM in 1989 and 1991, respectively. In September 2002, he received his PhD from the University of Hertfordshire, UK. He is the founding Head of ChemES. He has been the Chairman of the University Expert Panel (Engineering & Technology Cluster) since 2014. He introduced and teaches “Energy Resources and Application” and “Biodiesel and Fuel Cell for Transportation”. He was appointed as a Senior Member of the Academy of Malaysian SMEs (S.M.A.M.S) in March 2009 during the IKS2009 Presentation and Exhibition, Putra World Trade Center. His strength is indicated by his industrial-related research on applied energy & environment, with experience of around 27 years. He has secured a number of research grants and consultancy projects, and has published a few books. He has extensive publications including books and high impact journals in the field of energy and environment. He has more than 17 PhD/postgraduate students by research graduated. He filed three (3) patents, including an exhaust-driven “chemical compressor” for air-conditioning of vehicles. A utility innovation patent on an automated frying machine is on the way. Prof Abdullah is on both of the Board of Study and Industrial Advisory Panel, Faculty of Petroleum and Renewable Energy Engineering, UTM, 2010 through 2015 and 2016-until today. He has been in the advisory panel and keynote speakers for many energy & environmental related conferences. Professor Abdullah is a member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) since August 2004 and member of IMechE and Charted Engineer (CEng) of UK since September 2004. He is the sole author of the text book “Applied Energy: An Introduction” CRC Press, California, USA, 2012.
