Biography

My field of specialization is Polymer/Materials Engineering (Chemical Engineering) based on my PhD in that area from University Malaysia Sarawak (2011). That educational experience with my second M.Sc in Polymer Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (2008) and first M.Sc in Physical Inorganic Chemistry (Advance Polymer branch) from University of Chittagong, Bangladesh (2001). I received my first degree B.Sc (Hons) in Chemistry (1999) from University of Chittagong; allow me to retool myself to fit into University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) priority area of Polymer Composites and Nano Materials when I joined this university in 2011. I collaborate with The Institute of Technology and Science, The University of Tokoshima, Japan on Green Composites. I have also collaboration with Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya (UM), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (SUTS) and Melbourne (SUT), and University of Houston (UH). I served as a lecturer, Department of Chemistry, Institute of Textile and Clothing Technology Dhaka, Bangladesh. I worked as a research assistant at Department of Chemistry, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. Since I joined Faculty of Engineering, UNIMAS in 2011, I have taught 11 different courses and Final year project supervision. I have been the sole instructor for Polymer for Engineering Applications, Engineering Mathematics, Material and Polymer Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering, Quality Control and Reliability, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Energy, Environment and Society, and Lab-II (Physical, Organic and Analytical Chemistry). The 23 final year undergraduates, whom I supervised, have all successfully graduated. Currently, I am supervising 9 M.Eng and 8 PhD students. Among all the postgraduate students, 6 Masters and 6 PhD students graduated. I have received 20 research projects for which I am leader for 6 projects and co-researcher for 14 projects. 15 projects are funded by UNIMAS and 5 by external grant from Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). So far, I have produced 90 international index journal publications, 4 books and 2 books chapter. Currently, My Scopus h-index is 22 and i-index-36 with 1707 cititations. My standing in my area of specialization is shown by my membership in professional societies in the area of Chemical society, (Bangladesh) and Malaysia Board of Technologist (MBOT), and Institute of Chemical Engineer (IChemE). My contribution to UNIMAS management is through my current capacity as leader and supervisor in my research group, as a member of the various committees at department and faculty level.
