Biography

Hasmida is a passionate lecturer at Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) with experiences in teaching at undergraduates and postgraduate’s levels. She knows that SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS become SUCCESSFUL ENGINEERS. She is also a practicing coastal engineer with more than 7 years’ experience in consultancy projects such as hydraulic study, navigation and ship wakes study, met ocean study, Integrated Shoreline/Island Management Plan (ISMP/IIMP), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental Monitoring and Management Plan (EMMP), and coastal structure design. She is moving forward for excellent in research by seeking opportunities for collaborations in coastal engineering related research such as coastal erosion and flooding, coastal processes and sediment transport, innovation in coastal protection, soft engineering solutions, coastal resilient including coastal hazard and risk management, ocean renewable energy and coastal pollution. She has expertise in numerical modeling using MIKE 21 and Delft 3D software especially on 2D/3D modeling of hydrodynamic, cohesive/ non-cohesive sediment transport, water quality, spectral and Boussinesq wave, advection and dispersion (flushing model), and 1D littoral transport. She is also capable in numerical modeling using XBeach and FLOW3D software. Her numerical modeling skills workings best with her skills of geospatial analysis using ArcGIS and Global Mapper, programming using VB and MATLAB, and statistical analysis. She was graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and currently undertaking her PhD in Oscillating Water Column-Wave Energy Harnessing Device at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). She has linkages with people from industry where she worked as Coastal Engineer and Site Engineer for few established companies such as DHI Water & Environment (M) Sdn. Bhd, G&P Water & Maritime Sdn. Bhd, Dr Nik & Associates Sdn. Bhd, and Tidal Marine Engineering Sdn. Bhd. Hasmida is creative, responsible, efficient and she is enjoyed working in a team environment!
