Our Postgraduate Courses


The complexity of modern day civil engineering in different specialized field (i.e., water resources, structures, building foundations and soil problems, transportation and traffic problems, the management of construction projects that are environmental-friendly) needs an up-to-date engineering knowledge. Advanced technical know-how, now, has become an almost compulsory qualification and vital asset to all future and practicing engineers.
The Faculty of Engineering, UNIMAS, is committed to take the challenge of updating and enhancing the engineering knowledge through a Master of Engineering (Civil) Programme by Coursework. The programme aims at providing opportunities to various groups of potential candidates, such as fresh graduates who wish to enhance their academic knowledge by further studies, practicing engineers who may prefer to go for postgraduate studies and etc.
Programme Schedule
Teaching and learning activities for the programme are conducted on Saturday and Sunday.
Programme Structure
The program requires students to accumulate 40 credit hours during their studies in which preferably 17 credit hours (inclusive of 2 credit hours of thesis) are completed in Semester 1 and Semester 2 respectively and 6 credit hours to complete the thesis in the intersession semester. MEng (Civil) Resource Persons are sourced from among:
  • UNIMAS academic staff from the Faculty of Engineering,
  • Local experts and academics from other Malaysian academic institutions and other collaborating international institutions,
  • Specialists from the relevant public and private sector agencies.
Programme Duration
This Programme could be completed in a minimum period of one (1) year for fulltime candidate to a maximum period of four (4) years.

Master of Engineering in Communication System programme by coursework is suitable for fresh graduates, practicing engineers and academicians with primary degrees in Engineering and Science who wish to focus on a career in telecommunications industry. The programme offers a broad curriculum which focuses on solid theoretical core in communication systems engineering. It is designed to equip students with a detailed knowledge of modern communications technologies, telecommunications and data network systems. The programme also builds the interdisciplinary skills in student, to meet current and future needs of telecommunication industry.

Objektif program ini adalah untuk menghasilkan graduan yang :-

Hasil pembelajaran yang dicadangkan adalah untuk menyediakan peluang graduan yang mempunyai keupayaan berikut:-

Programme Duration

The programme COULD BE completed in a minimum period of ONE (1) and a HALF (1/2) years (Semester 1, Semester 2, Semester 3 and Intersession) to a maximum period of FOUR (4) years. Teaching and learning activities for the programme are conducted on Saturday and Sunday.

Master of Engineering (Mechanical) offer by Faculty of Engineering is suitable for fresh graduates, practicing engineers and academicians with primary degrees in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) who inspire to extend in depth and breadth the knowledge and skills gain from their engineering graduate studies. The programme offers two specialization areas in mechanical engineering field which are Mechanical & Energy Sustainability and Design & Manufacturing in the elective courses that enable the students to choose their area of interest. Mechanical & Energy Sustainability is focusing in materials, mechanics, thermofluid and energy optimization whilst the Design & Manufacturing are about manufacturing, design and industrial engineering. These areas of specialization are in line with the current demands of local and global industry’s pursuit.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS (AS APPROVED BY SENATE NOS. 02/2016 -148)
  • A Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent, as accepted by the Senate;
  • A Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent but with CGPA less than 2.50, may be admitted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field; or
  • Other equivalent qualifications approved by the Senate
  • For international students, a minimum IELTS Score of 5.5 or its equivalent ( e.g TOEFL-525; TOEFL Computer Test -196; TOEFL Internet Test 69-70 ) is required.
FEES
The fee for the programme is RM18,726.00* for Malaysian candidates and RM30,626.00* for international candidates.

*Fees include administrative, tuition and course material for the entire MEng programme.Students supported by the government, employers or other sponsors should bring letters from their sponsors addressed to UNIMAS confirming that the fee will be paid directly.

Programme Structure

The Programme requires students to accumulate 40 credit hours in their studies in which preferably 18 credit hours are completed in Semester 1 (inclusive of 4 credit hours of thesis), 16 credit hours for Semester 2 (inclusive of 7 credit hours of thesis) and 6 credit hours in the intersession semester. The students can select the electives courses from the same area of specialization in each semester with the total of 18 credits hours for the whole duration of study.

Programme Duration
The normal duration of study for a Master's degree (by research) is (2 - 4) years full-time or (3 - 6) years part-time.

Programme Duration
For a PhD, the normal duration is three (3 - 6) years full-time and (4 - 8) years part-time.
