Electrical Power System Laboratory

HOMER software LAB was established in 2017 with collaboration between Shorefield Sdn Bhd and Electrical and Electronics Department, Faculty of Engineering. The lab has 20 units of a computer provided with 10 HOMER software licenses. In addition, the lab provided with one unit of Mini Transmission Line (outdoor experimental) to teach for undergraduate students on Transmission Line technology.

HOMER software finds the least cost combination of components that meet electrical and thermal loads. HOMER simulates thousands of system configurations, optimises for lifecycle cost, and generates results of sensitivity analyses on most inputs. Furthermore, HOMER estimates the lifecycle cost of the system, accounting for the capital, replacement, operation and maintenance, fuel and interest costs Hourly energy flows can be viewed for each component as well as annual cost and performance summaries.
