Volume 4 Issue 2, October 2013

Editor’s note

The field of civil engineering encompasses all aspects of resource use, from resource extraction through to technology and product design, manufacture, operation and even management of wasted resources and products.

Thus, sustainability is very important in ensuring the increase use of resources in the manufacture of technology and products would not incur major impacts to the environment, society and business.

In this issue, focus is given to publish the student’s research projects addressing the design, the construction and the environmental engineering aspects that aim to achieve safe and sustainable development in a cost-effective, environmentally protective and socially responsible manner.

It is hoped that the integration and equipping engineering students with a wider horizon of concepts, analyses, synthesis and evaluation with regards to the environment, economy, and social attributes of critical sustainability issues through research projects will result in a significant paradigm shift about the importance of the sustainability element in the field of civil engineering.

Thank you.
