Editor’s Note
 
This issue of the Unimas e-Journal of Civil Engineering contains 4 research papers in the disciplines of Building Materials, Geotechnical Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering. All the four research papers address the needs of the Sarawak State.
 
The paper Estimating Probable Maximum Precipitation for Linau River Basin in Sarawak, by M. Hussain, S. Nadya and F.J. Chia, deals with the estimation of probable maximum precipitation for Linau River Basin in Sarawak using statistical method proposed by World Meteorological Organization.
 
N. M. Sa’don, A. R. Abdul Karim, W. Jaol and W. H. Wan Lili in their paper Sarawak Peat Characteristics and Heat Treatment present the results of their research on the geotechnical characteristics, the empirical correlations for Sarawak peats, and the influence of heat treatment.
 
L. Y. Jong and D. C. L. Teo in their paper Concrete Containing Palm Oil Fuel Ash (POFA) and Oil Palm Shell (OPS) Subjected to Elevated Temperatures present the effects of elevated temperatures on palm oil fuel ash and oil palm shell concrete.
 
In their paper Effect of Tidal Fluctuation on the Stability of Estuarine Structures in Sarawak, S.R. Kaniraj, L.J. Lee and S.N.L. Taib explain the background of their study and case histories of failure of estuarine structures. For the two sites of their study, they present the soil conditions, details of instrumentation, and the results of measurement.
