Foreword

Greetings from Volume 7, Issue 1, April 2016 of the Journal of Civil Engineering, Science and Technology (JCEST)!

JCEST is an open-access and peer-reviewed e-journal for publication of original research articles, review articles, and short communication on scientific and novel studies on recent research and developments that significantly contributes to the national and international Civil Engineering, Science and Technology community.

In this issue, 5 original research articles are published with authors coming from Malaysia and India. The articles cover interesting and important studies in Civil Engineering and interdisciplinary science. The first paper is on the evaluation of water hyacinth stem ash as pozzolanic material for use in blended cement (N.Das, S.Singh). The following articles look at; the strength and durability effect on stabilized subgrade soil (N.Razali, N. M. Sa’don, and A. R. A.Karim); the investigation of ground temperature for heat sink application in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia (I.S. Muhammad, A. Baharun,S. H. Ibrahim, W.A. W.Z.Abidin); the modelling of MSMA components: porous pavement with detention system underneath for low traffic roads (D.Y.S.Mah, B.Y. Koh, F. J. Putuhena, N. A.Rosli); and the effectiveness of automated enforcement system (AES) in reducing red light violation (RLV) behaviours: a case study in Kuala Lumpur(M.R. Kabit, N.A. Sabihin and W.H.W. Ibrahim)

It is of our greatest hope that this short overview of various topics within this issue can stir the interest of our readers so that the articles published in this journal can ultimately inspire more ground-breaking research and findings that can be published in subsequent issues of JCEST. JCEST welcomes manuscripts of original research that may open new endeavors to new areas and frontiers of scholarly studies.

Besides, the recommendation of this journal to your fellow academics, researchers and students can make this effort significant. My gratitude and appreciation are to the authors, reviewers and editors for their commitment and excellent contribution towards making this issue available.
