Greetings from Volume Six , Second Issue ,September 2015 of the Journal of Civil Engineering, Science and Technology (JCEST)!

JCEST is an open-access and peer-reviewed e-journal for quality studies and recent research and developments that significantly contribute to the national and international Civil Engineering, Science and Technology community.

In this issue, 5 regular articles are published with authors coming from Malaysia and Nigeria. The regular articles cover interesting and important studies in Civil Engineering and interdisciplinary science. The first paper is on improving the strength performance of high volume periwinkle shell ash blended cement concrete with sodium nitrate as accelerator (Akaninyene A. Umoh and Anthony O. Ujene). The following articles look at; chloride resistance of blended ash geopolymer concrete (M. A. Mohd Ariffin, M.W. Hussin); the effect of glycidyl methacrylate on water absorption properties of sago hampas biocomposite (M. S. Jamaludin, A. Zulkharnain, A. A. Khan and N. Wagiman ; building water sensitive urban design: modelling of green roof (K.W. Ling and D.Y.S. Mah); and the evaluation on factors affecting bacteria growth in collected rainwater (N. H. Sarudu, O. S. Selaman, R. Baini and N. A. Rosli).

It is of our greatest hope that this short overview of various topics within this issue can stir the interest of our readers so that the articles published in this journal can ultimately inspire more ground-breaking research and findings that can be published in subsequent issues of JCEST. JCEST welcomes manuscripts of original research that may open new endeavors to new areas and frontiers of scholarly studies.

Besides, the recommendation of this journal to your fellow academics, researchers and students can make this effort significant. My gratitude and appreciation to the authors, reviewers and editors for their commitment and excellent contribution towards making this issue available.
